Dear Chamber Members,

By now, we’re sure that you’ve all heard about the tariffs imposed on Canada by President Trump and are wondering about the effects this will have on you, your household, and your business.

The US and Canada have had a mutually beneficial trade relationship for generations and any extended trade war will certainly have negative impacts for businesses and consumers on both sides of the border. Price increases are a certainty, and job losses, supply chain issues, and a drain on our local economy are likely consequences of these disappointing and concerning actions.

We are deeply saddened by the decision to impose these tariffs and the direct impact that this will have on Canadians and their families. Every day these tariffs are in place, families, communities, and businesses suffer. While we have always encouraged you to shop local, now, more than ever, it is crucial to support local businesses and purchase made-in-Canada products to ensure the economic prosperity of our region.

The people of the Peace Region are hard-working and resilient, and by working together as a community we know we will fight hard to overcome these challenges. Let us stand together in the face of uncertainty and protect the interests of our fellow Canadians.

At the Dawson Creek & District Chamber of Commerce we are committed to standing by our local businesses and working with our members to ensure as little disruption as possible, during this difficult time. If you would like any support, have any questions, or would like to discuss anything pertaining to this matter, please reach out to us.

Our office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, or you can contact us by phone or email at any time.

Together, we are stronger.
